Without media, what would happen to the world?...
Media almost control everything in the world.(news, entertainment, sports, politics, economy and society). Media can be a part of us and almost all the thing we done will be through media.
Like what Anam and David said, the media did not fraud the viewers into giving them money. They're just giving the information to the audience but behind they do manipulated the mind of audience. As David mention, it's always up to the individual to choose or not. Media can't force bu they can attract and manipulate the viewers. At the end, all is just about money, people used media to make money and it's up to the person to make the choice.

on the surface we choose the media, in the true media choose they show what give us so its the media choose us..
i cant think out any idea to solve this problem now.
the media chose us for one reason.. Because of our interest in knowing certain things. The media research, analyse and evaluate us viewers to hit our point of interest. They just dont spread it all out for us to choose. It is base on the survey and results they get about viewers interest. So it could be the media choose us. Either ways, we are living in the world of media. So it is just give and take
i love media, the whole world is addicted to media! There is nothing possible without media. Today countries want to form the "GLOBAL VILLAGE", and this will only be achieved through media integration.without media we wouldn't know anything that happens in other counties...we wouldn't even have been watching the Olympics held in Beijing ....so i agree with David when he says that media chooses us because of our interests..
